A Network Impact projection shows the current WAN link utilization levels (Blue), plus the new traffic levels from the new application traffic (Green), and the additional 'overhead' bandwidth that needs to be available to accomodate short-term traffic peaks (Red) to ensure optimal application response times.

A Response Time Performance projection graphically reveals the expected response times at remote user locations, and how the time is distributed between client processing, network transport, application turns delay (due to network path latency), and server processing time. An accompanying table quantifies all of the time components as well as the percentage of the response time attributable to bandwidth constraints and application turns delay.

This Executive Summary contains analysis findings for a global implementation of an externally-hosted Performance Management System application.

The first page outlined the environment, assumptions, and summary reports of the Application Performance Analysis data that supported the modeling activity.

The APA data included evidence of a relatively high number and duration of 'Server Processing Time Events' (proc times > 1 sec) that are adversely affecting end user response times regardless of network conditions.

The tables in this page summarize the network impacts and expected response times, as well as the percentage of the response times attributable to network delay.

The Conclusions & Recommendations addressed Internet Gateway links that needed bandwidth upgrades, as well as warnings that some sites would experience excessive response times due to high network path latencies and to keep an eye on server processing times from the application vendor.
